The Dukar Mandala is complete.
At 5:30pm Geshe Wanchuk will give a brief explanation of the Mandala meaning.
The Dissolution Ceremony, always a standing-room-only event so arrive early, begins at 6pm. The Monks will ritually bless the Mandala and then sweep it away.
The dissolution of the Sand Mandala, symbolizing impermanence and non attachment, begins as the Monks offer closing chants and prayers .
The blessed sand is then swept up into a pile, and then again into small portions which will then be given to all those in attendance.
The remainder will be offered to the water as a blessing to the environment and all sentient beings inhabiting it.
Be sure to arrive early to take photos of the Mandala and to get a seat.. Above photo credit Tripp Mikich
